Joice is also a recording artist and songwriter, releasing her original music under the artist name Joice Nicolson on Spotify. Writing and recording her own music has allowed her to explore her creativity and develop her own artistic identity, while deepening her understanding of music as a form of personal expression.
For Joice, music is so much more than simply learning notes, playing an instrument or singing the right pitch. She believes music is a way of expressing identity, emotions, stories, love and experiences that can sometimes be difficult to put into words. Music can mean something different to every person, and Joice loves that there is no single way to experience or create it. Whether it is performing on stage, writing an original song, playing piano or simply enjoying a favourite song, she believes music has the ability to connect people and create meaningful moments.

Joice Nicolson is a passionate vocalist, pianist, songwriter and recording artist with a deep love for music and performance. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Education (P–12) at Victoria University and brings a strong musical background, performance experience and an enthusiastic personality to her music lessons.
Joice began playing piano at the age of 4 and started singing at the age of 9. Music has been a significant part of her life ever since, allowing her to develop her skills across piano, vocals, songwriting, music theory and live performance. She holds an ABRSM Grade 6 Piano Performance Certificate with Distinction and an ABRSM Grade 5 Music Theory Award with Distinction, giving her a strong foundation in both practical musicianship and music theory.
As a vocalist, Joice has achieved first, second and third-place results in local school singing competitions, giving her extensive experience performing in front of audiences and developing her confidence as a singer. She has also performed at weddings, charity concerts, corporate events and private functions, including performances at Hotel Borobudur Jakarta, The Grove Suites at Grand Aston Hotel and The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta.

Throughout her school years, Joice was actively involved in musical leadership and performance. She pioneered and led her school's first-ever Glee Club, bringing students together through singing and performance. She also led the Battle of the Bands competition as part of the school's AVITUS Cup Committee, coordinating with performers, musicians and technical teams to help bring the event together.
Joice's love for music naturally extends into her passion for sharing it with others. She loves the opportunity to introduce students to the same sense of joy, creativity and self-expression that music has given her throughout her own life. She believes that learning music should not feel like simply completing exercises or preparing for an exam, but should also be an opportunity for students to discover what they enjoy, express themselves, build confidence and develop their own relationship with music.
Her musical interests span a variety of styles, particularly pop, contemporary, soul and singer-songwriter music. She enjoys combining her vocal and piano skills and exploring the expressive side of music through both performance and songwriting.
With her background in piano, vocals, music theory, songwriting, recording and live performance, Joice hopes to encourage students to not only develop their musical abilities, but to discover what music means to them personally. She is excited to pass on her love for music and help students find their own voice, creativity and confidence through their musical journey.
